There is a large degree of political uncertainty and tension in Abia state as two individuals are currently parading themselves as Abia state governors.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party was ordered to vacate his position by an election petition tribunal on the grounds that he submitted a fake tax clearance certificate to the party.
The court then ordered INEC to issue a certificate of return to Uchechukwu Ogah, the PDP governorship aspirant who instituted the claim in the first place.
Although the PDP already filed an appeal against the judgment on Thursday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) went on hand over a certificate of return to Uche Ogah, effectively ensuring that there are now two governors in Abia state.
Okezie Ikpeazu has said he is still the governor of the state and has said that INEC was served with a notice of appeal. He has said INEC should not have gone ahead to issue the certificate of return to Ogah and has declared Monday and Tuesday public holidays in the state in an bid to regain control of the situation.
The security at the Abia state government house was visibly doubled as most visitors were turned back.
