UN Withdraws Aid To Syria

A deadly attack on a UN convoy in Aleppo has left at least 19 people dead. 18 UN lorries were attacked after a ceasefire between warring parties in Syria broke down.

The 31 lorries were carrying supplies intended for 78,000 people in Urum al-Kubra.

The Syrian Red Crescent president Abdulrahman Attar said: “It is totally unacceptable that our staff and volunteers continue to pay such a high price because of the ongoing fighting.”

The head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent’s office in Urum was also among the casualties, forcing the UN to suspend all aid operations in Syria.
