The police on Tuesday arraigned a 40-year-old woman, Mrs. Regina Philip, and seven others before a magistrate’s court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, for allegedly stealing 1,600 fowls valued at N1.5m.
The police prosecutor told the court that the defendants stole the fowls from the farms of Pastor Mrs. Titilayo Aluko on July 5 at Erin-Osun, Osogbo.
Other suspects arraigned by the police are: Odebiyi Yinka, Ayoola Samson, Grace Odeh, Elizabeth Ankira, Cecelia Ochili, Hannah Ankira and Oyelami Tajudeen.
The prosecutor told the court that Yinka and others at large stole the fowls from the complainant’s farms.
The charge read in part, “That you Odebiyi Yinka, and others at large on or before July 5, 2016, at Erin-Osun in the Osogbo Magisterial District did conspire among yourselves to commit felony, to wit: stealing, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.”
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Olusola Aluko, ordered that they be remanded in custody and adjourned the case till November 25, 2016.
