In what has come as a complete shock to many literary enthusiasts, lyricist, Bob Dylan has been awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize for literature.
Haruki Murakami, Ngugi Wa Thiong’o and Philip Roth were all considered frontrunners but the Nobel Prize judges picked Bob Dylan for ‘having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition’.

Dylan was born in Minnesota on May 24, 1941, and is the first songwriter to receive the Nobel Prize for literature
