The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide has condemned the recent judgment delivered by a magistrate court in Kano State, which discharged the alleged killers of Mrs. Bridget Aghahime, who was lynched by a mob in a market.
Mrs. Agbahime, 74, a trader at the Kofar Wambai market in Kano, was killed on June 2, 2016 over alleged blasphemy.
The Police later charged five suspects – Dauda Ahmed, Abdulmumeen Mustafa, Zubairu Abubakar, Abdullahi Abubakar and Musa Abdullahi – to court on a four count charge of allegedly inciting disturbance, culpable homicide, joint act and mischief.
The Chief Magistrate, Muhammad Jibril, discharged the five suspects and terminated the case as advised by the Attorney-General of Kano State.
Reacting to the judgment, IPOB, in a statement by its secretary yesterday, accused the court of bias.

A statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Mr. Emma Powerful, accused the court of bias.
“We condemn the judgment with every totality, the magistrate and the government of the state were instrumental to the killing of an innocent woman who committed no crime against Islam. How can a well-trained lawyer and a magistrate who attended so many seminars and courses release a murderer?” the statement added.
Describing the verdict as a dangerous signal, IPOB said it was aware that the arrests made before the suspects were taken to court was to deceive the public.
