He has earned himself a reputation as the ‘pope of the poor’ but it sure seems as though the Pope might entertain a little superstition.on Wednesday quipped that people should not send him early birthday wishes because, in his native Argentina, doing so brings bad luck.
Pope Francis, who turns 80 on Saturday has begun to receive early birthday wishes. The Vatican has had to open seven email accounts to cope with the sheer volume of mail the Pope is receiving.

Seemingly tongue in cheek, the Pontiff said “I thank you all for the wishes for my upcoming birthday, thanks a lot.
“But let me tell you something that will make you laugh: In my country early birthday wishes bring bad luck,’’
