Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed that the side’s new formation and defensive shape by coach Antonio Conte is the reason behind their recent fine form.

Since the Blues’ disappointing 3-0 defeat away to Arsenal at the Emirates early on in the season, Conte’s men have only conceded two goals, and have rocketed up the table from eighth to first with 12 consecutive victories in the Premier League.

And speaking to ChelseaFC.com, the towering Belgium international has suggested that the side is now extremely difficult to break down, but insists that in order to maintain their good run of form, concentration and work rate are of the uppermost importance.

“Letting in only two goals is amazing,” said Courtois.

“After that Arsenal game we had to build a new thing and we did it well, and there is a lot of hard work in training. It was not just that we did a new formation and it will work.

“We are more solid at the back than at the beginning of the season so it is harder for people to break us down. This is why we have this run at the moment and we just try to keep it going.

“In the Premier League things go really fast, so we just have to keep the focus on ourselves and play game by game. If we keep our concentration on doing what we are doing then we can keep the run going.”
