The Executive Director, Centre for the Vulnerable and Underprivileged, Mr Oghenejabor Ikimi, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Director General, Department to States Services and Nigeria Bar Association over alleged threat to his life by officials and task force members of the Delta State chapter of the Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators Association.
Ikimi, a Warri based legal practitioner, said he was being hunted for dragging the officials and members of the Chief Obi Nzete-led Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators Association Delta State before the EFCC to account for the daily welfare ticket of N150 for tricycles and N50 for motorcycles in the state.
The activist in a statement issued on Saturday and a copy of it made available to our correspondent in Warri, said armed men believed to be members of the union had on various occasions threatened his life and called on security agencies to immediately investigate the plot before the suspects make good their threats.
Ikimi added that he had through the State’s Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Owners & Riders Association, (NATOMORAS) approached the High Court, Otor-Udu, to determined whether the daily welfare ticket collection falls under motorcycle tax in the laws of the state.
