The Nasarawa State Government has advised parents to immunise their children with the recent out break of measles hitting many parts of Nasarawa State to be able to curb the outbreak.
Mr Godwin Otso, Team Leader of the state’s Social Mobilisation Committee on Immunization, gave the advice on Saturday in Awe, when the committee took its campaign to the Emir of Awe, Alhaji Abubakar Umar 11.
He urged parents to ensure that their children were immunised against polio,measles, whooping cough, diphtheria and other deadly diseases.
Otso pleaded with the Emir to mobilise his subjects to particularly embrace polio immunisation so as to eradicate the disease from the state.
He said that the committee was worried about the outbreak of measles and the casualty rates, adding that people were being educated on the dangers of the disease and measures to avoid it or minimise its effects.
The Team Leader advised communities to key into the response efforts of the state government, and promised to sustain the enlightenment.
In his response, the Emir promised to mobilise his people to support government’s efforts by immunising their children.
The Emir tasked district and village heads to ensure the success of health-related programmes in their areas in the overall interest of the people.
