The Association of Resident Doctors, on Wednesday, in Kano, has threaten to embark on an indefinite strike on Monday, September 4, 2017, over alleged failed promises by the Federal Government.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the President of the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital chapter of the association, Dr. Ahmed Tukur, said the decision was part of the resolutions reached by the association at its Extra-ordinary Executive Council meeting in Abuja on August 26.
He lamented that the Federal Government had yet to meet the association’s demand as agreed.
Tukur, while urging all the stakeholders to do the needful in order to move the health sector forward, listed the doctors’ grievances to include persistent salary shortfall to resident doctors nationwide.
Others, according him, are the inclusion of resident doctors in the national salary platform as well as lack of funding for residency training and the non-enrolment of the doctors pension arrangement among others.
