Mr Jimi Agbaje, the governorship candidate if the Peoples Democratic Party in the just-concluded governorship election in Lagos State, has decided to leave the party over an unresolved disagreement between him and the PDP leadership in the state.
This was revealed in a statement made available to journalists in Lagos. Agbaje pointed out that it was important for him to leave the party after a series of allegations that arose after the party lost the governorship election in Lagos. He said;
I have tried to remain focused and ignore all the distractions coming from the leadership of the party. I am making the decision after due consultations with my supporters and loved ones for the sake of peace.
As at the time of filing in this report, the next step for Agbaje remains unknown.
Agbaje also contested on the platform of PDP in 2015 against incumbent governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, and lost.
Mr Agbaje, however, did not give details on his next move and whether he will join another party.
