Airforce Officer Who Returned €37,000 Gets Double Promotion

The Nigerian airforce has announced that its officer, Bashir Usman, who returned €37,000 found in a parcel at Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, has been given double promotion with immediate effect.

Usman was promoted to the rank of Corporal from Aircraftman, a promotion that would have taken him 10 years to achieve.

Recall that Usman discovered the said sum of money at the airport’s hajj camp market and contacted the owner of the money with a phone number he found on the parcel.

At an event organised to honour Usman at the Air Force Headquarters in Abuja, Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, described him as a rare gem who the security operative holds in high esteem.

His words:

“We hold Umar in high esteem in the Nigerian Air Force,” the Air Chief said.
