The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-arraigned the formerĀ Governor f Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose for alleged money laundering on Tuesday.
However, Ola Olanipekun (SAN), the former governorās counsel, prayed the judge to allow Fayose to travel abroad for medical treatment because of his failing health.
The application for permission to travel abroad for treatment was subsequently granted by the court.
Fayose, who was first arraigned in 2018, just days after leaving office as governor has been slammed with N 11-count charge of receiving and keeping N1.2billion and $5million stolen funds from the office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) contrary to the Money Laundering Act ā For which he pleaded not guilty to.
The judge granted the application to travel abroad, while ordering that the governor must return his international passport to the court on or before September 16.
The judge then adjourned the case until September 16 to 19 for trial.
