Supreme Court Upholds Governor Ihedioha’s Election

Supreme Court

An appeal filed by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, challenging the emergence of Governor Emeka Ihedioha as the party’s candidate for the last governorship election has been dismissed by the Supreme Court.

In a unanimous decision on Tuesday morning, a five-man panel of the apex court upheld the earlier decisions in favour of Ihedioha by the High court and the Court of Appeal, Owerri.

Ihedioha’s victory at the PDP governorship primary was challenged by Anyanwu but the trial court held that he could not prove his allegations of manipulation, thuggery among other vices, which he claimed marred the process.
