PDP Secretly Inciting Imo Lawmakers To Impeach Me, Uzodinma Cries Out

The newly sworn-in governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma has cried out that the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) is secretly planning to incite the state’s lawmakers to impeach him. He made this known in a statement by his media aide on Tuesday, 21st January.

CAN Reacts As Boko Haram Kills Its Adamawa Chairman, Andimi

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Samson Ayokunle has described the killing of Adamawa State CAN chairman, Rev. Lawan Andimi as gruesome, unfortunate and a shame on the federal government. Recall that Andimi was abducted by Boko Haram on January 2 when the insurgents stormed the community.

PDP Protest Against S’Court Judgement Senseless, Disgraceful: APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s protest against the Supreme court’s judgement on Imo governorship election as a disgrace. The leaders of the opposition party embarked on a peaceful protest in Abuja on Monday. The apex court had sacked Emeka Ihedioha, PDP candidate, and declared Hope Uzodinma, APC candidate, as the duly elected governor of Imo, a judgement that was outrightly rejected by the opposition party.

Imo Assembly: Nine Lawmakers Decamp To APC For Uzodinma

Nine lawmakers of the Imo state House of Assembly have decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC, following Hope Uzodinma’s election victory at the Supreme Court. The Deputy Speaker of the House, Okey Onyekanma, is also said to have resigned his position. There are reports that more lawmakers in the state are preparing to join the ruling party soon.

Boko Haram Beheaded CAN Chairman, Despite N50m Offer

Lawan Andimi, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika local government area of Adamawa state has been killed by Boko Haram fighters that abducted him. The sect was said to have rejected  N50million ransom for the release of Rev. Andimi. The CAN chairman was abducted by the insurgents early January when his village was attacked.

Court Restrains El-Rufai From Demolishing, Taking Over Property Linked To Abacha

A Kaduna High Court has restrained Governor Nasir El-Rufai and agencies of the Kaduna State Government from further demolition and take over of any part of Durbar Hotel Plc. The building was demolished by an agency of the state government last week as part of its urban renewal programme of the Kaduna state government.

Some popular Nigerian English words have made it into the Oxford English Dictionary for the first time. These words are typically those which Nigerians have coined from Nigerian languages since the 1970s and 1980s. The words include; Buka: a word borrowed from Hausa and Yoruba which refers to a roadside restaurant that sells local food at low prices.

Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu state, says the state is the only Nigerian state that can survive without allocations from the federation accounts allocations committee (FAAC).
