The Nigeria Police Force has stated that it will obey and enforce the law over the looming nationwide strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Traders Union Congress (TUC).

The labour unions are set to embark on a nationwide protest on Monday 28th of September to protest against the hike in prices of petrol and electricity.

In a bid to avert the strike, the Federal Government secured a restraining order against the strike from the National Industrial Court.

However, the labour unions have insisted that they will embark on the protests regardless of the court injunctions, saying they have not been served court orders.

Reacting to the development on the ground,  the police said they would be guided by the position of the law on the matter.

Spokesman of the police force, DCP Frank Mba, in his response to questions from journalists on Saturday, said, “What does the law say in this circumstance? We would enforce the law. That is the only thing I can say.”
