Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, has denied media reports that he paid N2 billion for his tenure extension.
He gave the denial in a statement, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, on Monday in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
According to Mba, the media reports are untrue, unfounded, defamatory and libelous.
He added that the fake news will not stop the police boss from going after criminal elements in the country.

Mba said the tenure extension of the IGP was strictly the prerogative of President Muhammadu Buhari after he was impressed with the police reforms initiated by Adamu.
The police PRO stated that the IGP has directed his legal team to commence legal actions against the online publisher for publishing a piece of fake news.
He stressed that Adamu asked members of the public to disregard and discountenance the media reports as evidently untrue and unfounded.
