The Governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, has advised that the Federal Government must organize the general election in 2023 in a fair and truthful manner.
The governor stated this on Wednesday when he attended the International Republican Institute (IRI) in Washington, US.
Ortom claimed that there are signs that the government is meddling in the business of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The governor stated that the opposition parties are worried that the ruling party may find justifications to continue in power.

“The fact that the umpire appears to shift the goalpost to accommodate the sloppiness of the ruling party in observing its ostensible firm timetable deadlines calls for concern,” Nathaniel Ikyur, chief press secretary to the governor, quoted his principal as saying.
Ikyur also stated that Governor Ortom described the same religion ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “desperation and insensitivity”.
“It has become clear that the Buhari government is not working in the interest of Nigeria and her citizens and thereby setting the stage for chaos in 2023, which will have global consequences,” he said.
