Prior to the kick-off of political parties’ campaigns for the general elections of 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that it will contact the National Peace Committee (NPC), which is led by Abdulsalami Abubakar.
Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, a revered priest and the former head of state, Abdulsalami have fought for peaceful elections by encouraging candidates and political parties to sign a peace accord on the National Peace Committee’s behalf.

Mahmood spoke at the retreat on the Ekiti and Osun off-cycle governorship elections in Lagos.
According to the Commission, managing next year’s elections is huge and requires adequate consultations with stakeholders.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, also made a suggestion that the Commission will host a significant discussion on electoral logistics that would include logisticians, security agencies, labor unions, and other important players.
