”Other items seized are 533 cartons of foreign pasta, macaroni, and 749 bags of foreign parboiled rice.”

He said that smugglers were getting sophisticated in their illegal acts.

”We conducted this operation based on information gathered from the military.

“This is a big catch through the land border. The federal government has good plans for Nigeria. If these are allowed to come in, our textile industries would not survive,” he said.

He said 24 units of used vehicles were also seized.
